Joy & relief as water flows freely again…

Thankfully, this region is no longer in the grip of the deadly cholera outbreak, but water-borne disease is still a serious threat to health.  We were concerned, therefore, to hear that 6 important pumps were at imminent risk of breakdown due to overuse, as there’s no other safe water supply in these areas.  The only alternative is villagers using potentially contaminated water from muddy holes or rivers if they can’t walk the distance to neighbouring villages’ supply.

So this month, in partnership with Wilmslow Wells For Africa, we replaced the worn and broken parts, rebuilt concrete aprons and restored local safe water to over 3,500 people.

All these communities in these 6 locations have benefitted greatly from the successful repair of each pump, prompting the Chiefs, all the water users, and even the government water department, to express their special thanks for the materials supplied and the invaluable work done.
